MissPrissy, I couldn't agree with you more. I was just discussing this exact thing with a friend of mine. We both said "What's the lesson here?" This is wrong for Robert. My husband and I have discussed how to discourage him from this behavior and have come to realize....we can't. There is no way short of hurting him and I would never dream of hurting him. In spite of his behavior, I love the little guy. None of this is his fault BUT it is what it is and I have to figure out the best way to deal with it. I would never "dispose" of him, I'm not sure I could even rehome him. I don't let him out when my teen boys are around but he also attacks my husband and I. I will continue to try and find a happy medium that will suit the family and Robert. I raised him from a little hatchiling and I don't think anyone would treat him like he is used to being treated or not eat him. He loves to be out of his cage and roam the house but I guess I will just have to limit it. He still jumps up in the chair with me and settles down or sleeps beside one of the dogs. He has his sweet moments which is what makes this soooo difficult. I'm hoping as he ages, he will settle down and mellow out...... If anyone has any suggestions I will try them. I also spoke with another quail breeder and he pretty much said a female would not necessarily be a good solution. I don't think I want to risk doubling my troubles.
