mods if this is in the wrong place please move it, thank you. i found out this morning that my baby clairese died alot of you know her because i never stop talking about her she was almost 2. she died from some respiratory problem her comb was purple. i feel like i lost a friend

. i got her when she was a month old and i loved her to death but this is life and hers was short. well anyways thanks for listening to me. i probably wont be back for a while. how did yall take it when you lost your favorite chicken?

CB I am so very sorry! I'm sure she felt everyday how much you loved her. You know chickens for the most part come into this world and don't live a great life. Clarise had so much more she felt your joy everyday. RIP clarise.

I am so sorry about the loss of your Clairese. I know how feels.

I haven't been raising chickens very long, since Sept 2008, but I've lost a few. Some due to a raccoon or fox, and some due to illness like Mareks. It was really hard about a year ago because I lost 2 EE's in 2 days, one to a fox, and one just got really sick and I didn't know enough yet how to help her. I only had 1 Leghorn cockeral, 1 Wellsummer pullet and 1 EE pullet remaining. I was ready to give it all up.

Then we got chicks from a feed store, 3 buff orpingtons and 3 ee's. Even though I also lost the wellsummer too, these chicks have been great! The wonderful people on BYC taught me alot and are supportive. We have healthy chickens who lay great eggs, who make me smile and laugh. I'm glad we decided not to give up.

Hug yourself, take care, take a break. Allow yourself time, then you can start again. You didn't say if you had any other chickens. Good luck, chickenbottom.
