We have a white crested blue hen. She is more timid than other Polish but that's probably just because she is smaller ( I believe she got attacked when she was younger).

Someone with taste in breeds.

I have three white crested blacks and a silver crested - They're not timid, noisy, or weak like everyone says. At least, mine aren't. They were before 7 months of age, but now each one has a different and lovely personality, they're all very quiet except when they need to lay an egg, and they have all lived through our torrents or rain and wind as well as acres of land. Yes, they do well free-range just as long as their crests are taken care of. I even had two of my girls get lost in our forest for 2 weeks, I have no clue how they survived, but a friendly, very distant neighbor called up one day and told us they saw a weird looking chicken outside, and so we picked it up. The girl was very hungry and scared, but since then has been the most friendly of ours! (Except my best "pet" Rix)

Oh, and something else interesting - They lay eggs just as well as our Wyandottes. Must be a certain strain from the hatchery we got, because they're very opposite to what other people say Polish are like.
