Welp hatchery broiler chicks dying

Up until this year I have had great success with the birds from Welp. However, this year's chicks were the worst I have ever had. I ordered 30 and only two reached a decent butcher size before dying. I've literally raised hundreds of meat chickens throughout the years, and these were the first chicks I've had a problem with. I kind of think the genetics have run its course. I have always been disappointed with their customer service, but they had great birds. Now that the birds are going downhill, I’m not so inclined to put up with the lousy customer service. I was considering giving them another chance, but with their birds being so bad, I’m not sure if it’s worth the time and money to try them again.

May be the line they sourced from. I doubt they are raising their own bird lines for meat birds. A friend worked for Cobb. All those bird lines are proprietary to the company that produces them.

Probably so, they went from the best I have ever raised to the worst I have ever raised, all in one year. If they did change lines I sure with they would change back.
