This coming wednesday my order of 25 total chicks (14 black sexlink and 11 red stars) is being shipped. I have recently look at the forecast for next week and the weather is suppose to be 50's and raining! Will my poor babies be okay? I know that it takes approximetly 2 days for them to get here. Has anyone ordered from them? How many DOA? Or after a couple of days? And also please tell me what you think of Welp Hatchery and their chicks.. quality and pictures would be lovely. Thanks, Hannah

While I have no pics, I used to own a feedstore and we used Welp for years as one of our main Hatcheries for chicks. Our store was in Ca and they shipped just fine. Their chicks were always healthy and we never had any problems with the hatchery if any arrived DOA. I can't really remember an exact DOA count since we delt with litteraly hundreds of chicks a year and other hatcheries, but I can tell you, with Welp DOA's were not often. Welp is a nice hatchery and they always did right by us.

Thanks so much for the info! That makes me feel more confident about them

I split an order with some other people last September, we had 47 total. They were shipped on a Wed and arrived Fri morning perfectly happy and healthy....no losses at all! I have 12 wonderful laying hens - 6 Barred Rock and 6 Black Sexlink. This was my first time ordering chicks and am so happy with the quality of Welps birds. They are great girls, very friendly, come running when they here me and are good with my 3 yr old son. I would definitely order from them again (too bad I wnt to TSC the other day

I have 100 Cornish X shipping out next week from Welp. I too was woried about the time in transit from Iowa to the East Coast. Good to know 2 days to Cali caused no problems.
