Show her a picture of a human pelvic ring. THIS is what she imagines.

Now show her a picture of a chicken's pelvis. This is the reality.

NO RING. Chickens are designed for this sort of thing. One of the worst thing you can do for your chickens as an owner is to "humanize" them. It will lead you to wrong conclusions, whong actions, again and again.

Takes new layers a while to work out the kinks in their plumbing. Oversized, double yolk eggs are NOT uncommon. Nor are soft shell eggs, shell-less eggs, fairy eggs, etc. Only a concern if the bird persists in those defective eggs for an extended period, and there is almost nothing you can do to correct it.

Depends on the breed, but when you check a hen's "space" to see if she's laying, you can feel it. See also.

For my birds, its at least two, and often three finger's width (I have small hands for a guy, admittedly). Most of 2" I'd guess. and the bones "float" a bit, spreading as the bird lays.

Kind of an odd view there, got link?

The one I linked earlier doesn't look to be a chicken. Clearly some bird, but not a chicken. Apologies.
