Hello again. I'm getting one Welsh harlequin duck soon to accompany my line runner Aylesbury cross and I have a few questions about the harlequin. How many eggs do they lay a year? Do you need to clip their wings and what age do they stop laying eggs?

They lay about three hundred eggs a year their first two years. They can only fly a little, they usually can't clear a four foot fence.
Birds don't really 'stop' laying eggs, but they can slow down production considerably. Welsh Harlequins slow down at three to four years.
Side note: you can sex day-olds by their bill color, in case you didn't already know.

Thanks for the info. What age do they begin laying?

Most of them were very sweet. A couple were high-strung.

Note: I have never kept Welsh Harlequins or any other ducks. A friend has them.
enjoy your ducks.
The breeder I'm getting the Welsh harlequin duck from says you need to buy at least two ducks at a time and they only have one harlequin female what other breeds are good for eggs?
