Welsummer crossed with a Buff Orpington would look like?

I'd love to know how this turned out egg production and hen/rooster mature weight wise on both sides hybrids. I want to get some Welsummer for eggs and Orpington for meat but if the right traits transfer from the right breed it could make an amazing dual purpose cross breed. I would love to see how yours do.

This is an old thread (look at the dates on the posts.)

The people who had posted have been gone for years (I looked at their profiles, which tell when they were last logged into the site.)

I think those two breeds should be about equal for egg laying abililty, and about equal for meat producing ability. I would not expect either one to be very efficient at producing meat, unless you get them from a breeder who has been selecting for size and for meat ability.

I live in the USA, where hatcheries have selected most breeds to lay more eggs, but have smaller body size and not as much meat. This makes sense for the hatchery-- they sell chicks not meat, and most people who buy chicks want them to grow into laying hens. People that want meat chickens usually buy Cornish Cross, so there is not a big market for other breed chicks that will grow nice and meaty.
