They had hatched! I had 9 eggs under a broody and when I lifted her off the nest I was greeted by a whole nest full of keets.

It is day 24 and I didn't expect to see them for a couple of days. Isn't 24 days a little early?

Well-------I put mine in a turner for 18 days, then take them out and then by day 21 ( turning them as many times as I can for the next 3 days) they are suppose to hatch----late ones by day 24. Teresa in WV

They supposedly take 28 days, I have never had this happen with incubated guinea eggs. I had one (in the bator) hatch today that wasn't due until Wednesday, so day 24 hatch for this one as well.

I've only had a hen sit eggs successfully once, and I don't know how long she sat them. I didn't keep track very well, and it was a crazy time.

But every incubator-set guinea egg I've hatched has hatched by day 25.

Do Guinea's eat grasshoppers??

Congrats!! Day 24 is just a wee bit earlier than mine normally hatch. All the books and articles say they take 28 days, but mine have always pipped on day 25 and most are done by day 28.

I have had 2 chickens hatch guinea keets, they both hatched theirs on day 25. And I have had 1 guinea hen hatch keets, hers also started hatching on day 25.

Congrats again, and how many hatched?

I had 8 hatch out of 12 eggs.

I've wanted Guineas for years. About 15 years ago I bought some keets and kept them penned for a couple of days. Then I let them out. You know what happened. They marched off into the woods, never to be seen again. These days, when anybody can know everything about everything, I hope to do it right this time.

Here is a pic:

My guinea eggs were peeping at me last night. They're not due to hatch until the 28th. I'm sure when I go check this morning, I'm going to have at least some pips.

Congrats on your keets!

Laurie
