Hello!
Not everyone knows where Milpitas is but we're sandwiched in between Fremont and San Jose. We're just in the beginning stages of having chickens. Last weekend, we converted our old Bunny hutch and run into a larger run and built a new coop. Still have a few things to finish on the run area and then just need to buy supplies and then.....the CHICKENS! My husband grew up with chickens and I've always found them interesting...now we're going to give them a try. Hubby doesn't want to get them as chicks, as he wants them to be coop ready. Right now we're thinking of just starting out with two and he's leaning on getting a Barred Rock and/or a Rhode Island Red. Is two a good number to start with? Any good suggestions on where to get them, around the Bay Area? I'm also open to any recommendations or help, since this is my first time with chickens. Here is our finished coop and unfinished run (hope to finish this weekend).
