Hey folks,

I'm in Western Oregon-between Albany and Eugene-and I am trying to find some barred rock chicks. I know it's late to be getting them, but does anyone know where I may be able to find some? I am trying to help my dad get started with chickens and he was a little hesitant, but has decided he wants a few for his back yard and of course, I think the feed stores are done selling! He only wants 4 and my coop is full, so I can't order from a hatchery, because they require minimum of 15 in most cases.

Any help finding what I'm after would be greatly appreciated!

Meyer Hatchery's minimum is 3 chicks April-October, and we have ordered 26 chicks and 6 ducklings from them without a single loss or gender error. They are a wonderful hatchery with very friendly and patient employees. The only thing to consider is that we live an hour and a half from Meyer, so the shipping isn't as rough on our babies. Depending on the treatment of the chicks during transit, it is possible to receive chicks from many states away without problems.

Thanks for the reply. Found a home hatcher that had some beautiful orpington chicks (can't tell if they are blue or black) and a couple ameraucanas (sp).
