We have a Cornish Cross rooster that we got from the tractor supply store in March. We had two others that were hens that have already died. The tractor supply store sold them to us as laying chickens and we would never eat them so we’ve tried to take care of them as best we could after figuring out a couple months after buying them what they were.
The rooster looks good. He is in a lot better shape than the girls were. He is huge, but can run, tries to mate with our other chickens and takes care of our girls really well.
He has been our very favorite because he is so chubby and cute and he let my daughters carry him around until recently. He has started trying to attack me and my daughters but we carry a broom with us at all times and he runs away when he sees it.
Anyways, it’s been so hot recently and we give our chicken friends a lot of water. We have bowls and containers all around their run and coop and they have a nice tree that gives shade. They have a nice shaded area. But the last couple days I’ve turned on a sprinkler that hits part of their run so they can get wet if they choose to. He was looking pretty rough today, I could tell the heat was bothering him, so I decided to turn the sprinkler on. He was the only chicken not running away from it. He seemed to really enjoy the water. But when I went to put him away for the night, he was soaking wet and making a whimpering sound. Should I try blow drying him? Will he be ok going to sleep wet? He scares me a little because of him trying to attack me once.

My chickens have gone to roost soaking wet. If he didn't like it he'd move.
Sorry to say it doesn't sound like he's going to live very long but at least you've given in a far superior life to the one he'd have had if he'd ended up in a commercial meat barn.
