Some reason when I walked outside this morning ALL nine of my Silkies were out in the run while it was pouring down rain. They looked so miserable, but they just stood in the mud puddles. While my three others (2 barred rocks and 1 gold link) were smart and inside the coop. Is this normal? Why would they want to be outside in the rain??
I did take them inside to dry off and they seem to be fine, but moving forward I heard that Silkies don’t do well wet?

How big is your coop? The silkies are housed with the barred rocks and sex link? They may be afraid to go in. Silkies are meek birds and are best housed with other meek birds.

Oh I’m definitely not worried about my Silkies with the three others. My Silkies are actually higher pecking order than the other three. Probably because the others are sneezing comers and younger.
it’s a fairly large coop. All 12 can comfortably be in there.

My silkies stood out in the rain for days when I introduced them to the resident flock. In NH weather 😂 they’re all fine and alive a year later.

I didn’t help them at all or dry them off. But I did put a tarp over the area they were standing in for good measure. They eventually when into the coop and stopped being babies.
