Had some serious feed waste problems for a while. always had feed on the ground and the moldy circle when we moved the tractor around. Tried different feeders and such but still lost a lot of feed on the ground and floor.

Here's what seems to be working:

Purchased some oil change pans about 3 inches deep and about 2 inches larger in diameter than feeder. Placed a block or two under feeder to bring it to correct height. feeder sits in pan and when feed is billed out it drops in pan.

Yesterday checked feeders and was able to replace enough feed for a few chickens for a day or two in each one.

Dunno if this is a problem for anyone else but it seems to be solving ours.

Maybe bantys are better behaved I dunno.

Never dreamed that they, BO's and EE's could spill so much feed, but there was always feed on the ground around the feeders, less with the lipped feeders from Miller but still more than I could tolerate or appreciate. Roos were the worst.

YES we hung em blocked em and bought feeders with lips , metal feeders, plastic feeders and even thought of pipe feeders.

This works for us so I wanted to share.
