Hey, I have been watching my drake for about 2 weeks and noticed the severe weight loss. Nothing has changed so I’m not understanding why his keel bone is protruding so bad.
We feed Kalmbach 16% flock maintainer, brewers yeast, peas as a snack. He free ranges in the pond all day and they get put up at night with clean buckets of water.
He eats normal, hungry all the time, and goes to bed with a crop full. He drinks normals. Acts normal (puts the girls in their place, swims, yells at me, etc)
I wormed the flock a week ago as a precaution since they free range in The pond (no obvious signs of worms)
He is not lethargic or anything.
Photos below are December of last year and the two are the most recent from a couple days ago.
Any thoughts? Yes, he’s a 3 year old Indian runner but he’s never looked like this. He’s are only male with 7 girls and my daughters first duck so he’s quite special. The only time he’s ever lost weight in the past was due to his main girl that he grew up with was killed from a fox years ago due to depression, there’s been no underlying issues ever.
