What’s my hen up to?

I have three hens (a buff barred, a black tail and a Goldilocks) in my garden. All are around 1year old and generally lay well. They spend about half the day in their run and half free ranging.

Our Goldilocks had a sudden increase in laying three weeks ago for one week (laying every day rather than alternate days as she usually does). Then suddenly she seems to have pretty much stopped laying. She goes into the nesting boxes for about half an hour each day, as if she is laying, but she’s not. She’s not showing any signs of being sick or egg-bound and otherwise seems perfectly content. I’m not worried about not getting eggs but I’m worried there might be a problem we’re not seeing.

Any thoughts welcome!

Never heard of a Goldilocks chicken....some kind of high production hybrid?
How did you check for egg binding?
As long as she's eating drinking pooping and moving around OK not much you can do.
I have had birds 'take a break' but still go to the nest....might just have to wait it out.

Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, (laptop version shown), then it's always there!

Thanks for your reply. I’m in the UK and the Goldilocks might have another name so I’ll try and figure out what she is!

Hopefully she’s just on a break. I had a chicken keeping neighbour check her for being egg-bound - I wasn’t here so I’ll ask him how he did.

Thanks!
