My female mallard has been laying for about 2 months now, she stopped about a week ago, I assumed it was due to the winter months and that she was done laying until it was not longer winter in her mind. However after a week of nothing, she laid this. It’s been 4 days, she hasn’t laid anything since. What is that?!

Looks like an complete egg covered in membrane...might have gone back upstream after shelling. Can happen with chickens, and I assume also with ducks.
Will have this moved to the duck forum where you should get better advice.

I’m new here, thank you for being helpful! I just found the duck forum and wasn’t sure how to change it.

You can supply oyster shell in a separate bowl...I agree.Ducks lay and produce an egg like a Chicken..It looks like she first was making the weird looking shelled egg thing in the front then developed the actual egg in the shell and then that shelless egg followed right behind..Just a glitch in the egg machine...As long as she remains normal you have nothing to worry about....

If she were mine I would give her some calcium orally for a few days. If you can, you might want to think about having a vet look at her because sometimes repro tract infections can cause this sort of problem, and if not treated soon enough, it can become a life threatening infection. Not trying to scare you, and I hope it's just a glitch that extra calcium will fix. :fl

Can you post dosing amounts and source of liquid calcium?

:bow Thanks!

Sorry, forgot.
Calcium dose I use is ~50 mg per pound per day.
One can use human calcium citrate tablets. I stay away from calcium carbonate because I've read that it's not absorbed as easily as other forms of calcium. Of course supplying them with oyster shell is always a good idea, but oyster shell doesn't always help a hen that's low on calcium.

One that is absorbed very quickly is liquid 23% calcium gluconate, which is found in the cattle section of feed stores. Dose for this 0.2 ml per pound *orally* or subcutaneously (injected under skin). Refrigerate after opening.
