I applaud entrepreneurship. I think the avg chicken owner doesn't want to spend $400+ for a season so I think this price point is ok. I think it would be tough to make a cheap chicken coop, and supply 100lbs of feed, 2 laying chickens and make a profit.

Having said that, this forum is about coop & run design. As a chicken coop, this is not a strong design.

My buddy makes high end western boots for a living. The boots start at $2000 per pair. He is of the opinion that there are 2 kinds of chicken/duck owners. One kind wants cheap eggs and spend as little as possible. The other kind can afford his boots, buy a couple chickens and drop another $2k on a high end coop/house. His words, "their daughter likes horsey books and so they buy her a pony. If they want chickens or ducks they just want something fashionable and high quality."

The entire business model of renting ducks is another discussion entirely.

I'm making two high end duck houses and plan on trying to sell them at month end for $2k-ish. I'm also kicking around giving them away to some fashion gallery owners I know and making 2 more. I'd give them away because I don't know many rich, beautiful, and fashion conscious people and these two do. If they look as good as I hope, I think these two would give my name out to the right kind of people that might buy more.

When I say high end, I mean top quality craftsmanship, materials, interesting design ideas, electronics. One of them I'm almost done is supposed to look like a mid century modern home (symmetrical tile look, raised panels, hidden door, 70's paint job). I'm scared to post photos in case it's a bomb and just looks weird to everyone but me.

From a marketing perspective, it might be helpful to post pictures of the duck houses you're constructing. They may be fabulous designs that will sell like hot cakes, or they may be too weird for anyone to take a chance. You won't know until you get feedback. If you like building them and giving them away, then it doesn't matter (and that's very nice), but if you want to make a profit then you need to know what your target audience wants and is willing to spend money on.
