One of my roosters crowed for the first time this weekend! I was so proud of him! He crowed a few times Saturday morning, I didn't hear anything on Sunday, and this morning he just started belting it out!

Should I assume that my other roosters will now pick up on it and find their voices, too?

I'm still waiting on my boy to let go. We have chickens all in my neighborhood and the roos sound like a chorus in the mornings. Still silence in my coop.

It seems like they test their voices first. I had one funny, squeaky crow several weeks ago from my 12 week old barred rock and none since. My daughter and I heard one of our 5 turkeys gobble on Friday, nothing since!

What time do they start?? My favorite hen is looking more and more like a rooster, and I want to keep her! I'm nervous my neighbors will run me out of town if the crowing is too obnoxious though.

If I keep them locked in the coop until later in the morning, will that put off the crowing?

I don't think keeping them in the coop will keep them from crowing.

When mine crowed this morning, it was 6:00 a.m. before I went to open the coop...

Wow...I don't know if I'm blessed or cursed...one of my Araucana boys started croaking at 6 weeks old. Now at 10 weeks, he's our biggest crower, followed by my Silver Sebright boys and my Black-Tailed Buff Japanese boy.
