I understand sharpies aren't good to mark eggs with, but what about non toxic children's washable markers. I won't mention the brand -
We have dark brown eggs and a pencil is hard to see...
I understand someone can find something wrong no matter what you use. Quite often it is people that have not tried it that find fault.
I've used Sharpies, wax crayons, pencils (recommend soft leaded pencils), and ink back in the day when fountain pens were common. All of them worked for me.
I do not write on the eggs that go under a broody. I make broad stripes so I can easily tell which belong and which do not. In the incubator I mark individual eggs so I can easily track them through hatching. I now use a fine pointed Sharpie for all of my markings but my methods have changed over the decades.
