What age do chicks have to be to use diatomaceous earth?

Hi all,
I have been looking through the diatomaceous earth threads here on the board and haven't been able to see if there is a minumum age that the chicks need to be before you put the diatomaceous earth in their feed. Ours are 3-4 weeks old now and growing like weeds, but have occasional runny stools. Do they have to be a certain age before you can use the DE in their food?

I don't think there is a minimum age.
I've used it in my chicks litter sense day one.
I use a flour sifter to spread it around. The kind the operates with one hand so you can hold a chicken while you use it.
