I have always heard that Coturnix Quail are best butchered right at the "full grown" stage. However, I am wondering what is the max age? I know they can theoretically be butchered at any time, but do they get tough and remarkably less palatable when older like chickens? Thanks!

I've butchered up to 18 months old no problem. They don't get as tough if they're in small pens. The larger the pen, the tougher the bird .
