My 9 week old EE boy is a good chicken so far, but is obviously rather young. What's considered grown up enough that I can be more sure of his real personality?

Thanks
Ann

Very dependent on circumstances. If he has shown aggressive tendencies already he will be AGGRESSIVE. Otherwise it depends a lot on who else is around. A cockerel may be very quiet and non-dominant whilst there is a bigger boy around, but aggressive and dominant when there are hens/people/smaller males around. In my experience there is always a 'pecking order' even (with hens too) and this changes depending upon who is around. Often clutch mates (i.e hatched at the same time) will tolerate each other even as fully grown birds. Some of my Brahma boys did not show their true natures until they were over 6 months old as they mature so slowly, so the breed type matters a lot,

Good question... I was wondering the same thing. Our RIR boy is 7 weeks old and so far so good. We try to pay extra attention to him to hopefully keep him that way
