What age does everyone put their chicks onto grower feed? 🙂

My white stars are 3 weeks old tomorrow, their bag of chick crumb is almost done. Just wondering what age people put them onto grower as I know many people do it differently, would like to hear what age everyone chooses

Chick grower is usually the same as chick starter/crumble. Look at your bag closely, I bet it's for chicks up to laying age. Share a picture of your current bag, we can help you look

It says up to 8 weeks old, but I know a lot people switch them earlier so was just wondering how young is too young

My broody mama's are fed that when I find then setting, so chicks hatch with it as their option. I don't do starter unless I have artificial chicks

I generally have always fed starter/grower for 16 weeks then transition to a mixed flock 20% after that. But I currently have eight two week old bantam chicks that have been fed Purina Flock Raiser from the start and they are doing very well.

Do you have an all flock or flock raiser available? I would get that if you can then just feed it next. That would be good for life, provided oyster shell is on the side for any laying bird

I feed mine medicated chick starter for the first two to three months and then transition to flock raiser.

Day one. My chicks get 20% or 22% meat bird grower from their first day until 12 weeks when I move them into the main flock where they eat All Flock 18%.

I don't do grower. I just go from starter to all flock. They get starter in the brooder and all flock once they join the main flock. Honestly, you can keep birds on starter for life, if you want. There's really no one "right" way to do it.

If I am starting a flock from scratch I switch to grower at 8 weeks. But now that I have a mixed flock I have been doing medicated for 6-8 weeks (depending when the bag runs out haha) then just switching to all-flock.
