I have 2 SB and 2 Narragansett poults. How old do they have to be before you introduce them to grass? They are 16 days old. Plus there is a significant size difference between the 2 standard bronze....any ideas why?

I usually put mine out at 6 weeks. Of course, then hen that hatched her own eggs had them out at day 1. I hatched some in an incubator and put them out at 5 weeks so all the birds from the brooder would be iontroduced to the grass at the same time.

If your two standard bronzes are much larger than the narragansetts, I would wonder if they are broad-breasted. Are the legs and feet bigger? My broad-breasteds are 50% larger than the standards at 8 weeks.

If you wait until they are 12 to 16 weeks old, you will have less problems with disease and illness. Until that time they do not have a full immune system.

The size difference could be a difference in sex. It also could be that the little one is not thriving.
