Moved my healed up/though bald hen back into a community pen last night (even rearranged the cages). Came home from work and her ear and face ate bloody for the third time. Scabs gone, redness gone, nothing to distinguish that she was injured but a bald patch. They aren’t fighting, just constantly pecking at her ear. I haven’t switched which pen she’s in, maybe that will help (pen mate has a weird bad habit?). I’m puzzled! Eats, drinks, feels fine, just likes to bleed profusely from her right ear every fourth day with the help of some well meaning friends!

Is she a different colour than the others? I have seen quail pick on birds that are a different colour than the main group. I even had a customer who had mostly brown birds with two pale ones. The pale ones gotten beaten up badly, so I replaced them with a couple brown birds and they got along fine.

It’s a pearl in a pen of EB birds (plus a pharoah pied white wing, who is a gentle bird but also the main culprit), I think you nailed it! Like gulls pecking the the other to death because it has a red string in its foot.
