I agree, a lot depends on the going rate of where you are. And most importantly, the age & condition of the chickens. If they are prime young point-of-lay hens they should be worth more than older hens who may have passed their peak. You may have difficulty selling your roosters for much more than $3-$5, especially the bantam and "mutts". They will probably be bought for eating. You may need to add them in "free with purchase of 2 or more hens". Or eat them yourself.

But don't call them "mutts"!!! That has a negative connotation, better to call them "handsome/colorful/interesting mixed-breeds". I myself think mixed-breed chickens are great, but not everyone will, especially if you call them "mutts".

In my area of South Florida I try to sell started pullet chicks for $1 a week of their age. And by 4 weeks you should be able to tell the sex of some of them, by 12 weeks you should know almost for certain. I don't hatch with an incubator, so don't have itty-bitty chicks for sale. Few people have use for Leghorn cockerels, unless they use them young for fryers.

I wish you great success with your sales. A lot will depend on the market in your area, if there are many others also trying to sell chickens, and the prices they're asking. I myself have found it frustrating & exhausting when people want to pay so little. I see ads for chickens for prices that I cannot imagine anyone making any kind of profit from. Unless they're selling off their older spent hens, or raising chicks on bakery cast-offs. That's why I just process my own extra cockerels for my family's table, and try to sell my mixed-breed pullets when they're young & the price seems more appealing.

There is a good market at my county Fair, I can sell the chickens I show and there are a lot of people who visit the tent looking to buy grown chickens. Maybe it is the same at your county Fair. You may also have success if there are suburbs near you where people are starting to keep backyard chickens. Many of those folks prefer point-of-lay hens to day-old chicks.
