My 16 week old Pullets have been making a lot of loud strange noises for the past couple of weeks. Doesn't sound like an egg laying song. It sounds more like peacocks, or if you are a Star Wars fan sometimes they sound like Tusken Raiders. Are they just being loud and talkative, or are they trying to tell me something?

Tried to make a video. Hope this works.

Sounds like egg song to me, just an unusual melody. I have some that do that. Some do the stereotypical bawk-bawk-baGAWK, like my Cochin and my Spitzhauben. Some do the Tusken Raider thing, like my Naked Neck and my Leghorn.

My Silkies do an ow-ow-ow-OW-OW-OW-OW!!!! thing. My son says it sounds like they got their toes stuck in a door.

I did hear someone do a more traditional egg song a few days ago. None are laying quite yet so I guess they are practicing a lot. Lol

A few are getting close. Combs are getting redder and when I checked pelvic bones some are spread a little over 1.5 fingers. Surprisingly the one with the largest/reddest comb and wattles is still only 1 finger.
