WHAT ARE PACKING PEANUTS?

What are these packing peanuts i hear people say on here all the time??

Some hatcheries fill the box with extra chicks when you don't order enought to fill the box. Frequently cockerals, but sometimes you get pullets-if you're lucky.

they are Styrofoam sorta chunks that are used in boxes to help absorbs and cushion any impact that the box might take and to help keep anything in the box where it is suppose to be not moving all around.
