what are rosecombs like

also what are they like temperment wise are the roosters as loud as a OEGB or are they more quiet and docile?

Hi there... I have a rosecomb trio (roo & 2 hens)... the roo is definitely loud... and often vocal.
They say that's a bit normal for bantams... *I didn't know that about bantams* He's just so darn beautiful!

I breed several different varieties of rosecombs bantams. I don't think they crow more than OE in my opinion. Just about all bantams have a high pitch crow. Rosecombs much more docile that OE. Like SJMike said they are beautiful.

I have a trio of black rosecomb bantams. The hens are sweet as can be. The roo I think is on an overload of testosterone 24/7/365. He's a little devil. I cannot tell you how many times I go to feed and he hits the feed scoop. He's cost me 4 times as much to feed than any other bird I have here, LOL. And... the exercise he gives me is quite an unexpected bonus in the health department too. You see, he waits until I go to close the door then does a flying attack and launches himself out the door and out onto the ground, and there the chase begins.

I don't know that his temperament is really that much off target, he's just a sneaky and tricky little thing. If I actually go to catch him in the cage, he turns into a huge wuss and tries to hide behind the hens. So while he's a touch touched, I wouldn't trade them for the world. I think it may be his way of getting back at me for telling him how pretty he is and playing with his big white fleshy earlobes, ha ha. They are beautiful, regal, their feather texture is so soft and velvety, and he gives me entertainment and exercise that I wouldn't normally get. He's no louder than my other bantams. My trio came from Lonnie McAfee (oldest Rosecomb bloodline in the USA), and November 14th they make their show debut for us. I hope it goes well and I hope the eggs in the bator from them keep developing along as nice as they are.

I have one OEGB hen, and the Rosecomb females are just a little larger than the OEGB hen. I don't have any OEGB males anymore, so I can't really compare but by memory, and the Rosecombs are larger. As far as who crows more, that's hard to tell when you have about 200 bantams and trying to figure out just who is crowing the most.
