What are signs of a good rooster?

A good rooster "asks" a hen for permission to mate, and takes No for an answer, he doesn't force himself. He asks by doing a little wing dance around her and if she moves away from him, he lets her go. If she squats, she's receptive. I've had cockerels that would chase mercilessly, corner a reluctant hen and force her, this is no bueno. I had a rooster scalp a hen, did not keep him. Current rooster is a wonderful gentleman, the hens love him and surround him like groupies around a rock star. He moves out of my way if I walk about the yard, very respectful. All hail Rooster Rojo, may he live forever!
