we raise chickens for meat and eggs. we usually butcher the extra roos and hens with abnormalities. the problem is say a cross beak hen can lay until it is cook pot time, but we are also raising chickens and don't want to pass on undesirable traits. husband's solution is the freezer around 16-17 weeks, I would like to get the most production out of my chickens i can with out setting up another coop.
so the question is what abnormalities can be passes on and which are just random chance or egg/chick related injury we never noticed?
