I have a black australorp hen and a polish rooster. The rooster is being mean to her because there is only one hen to mate with. What type of hen should i get? I'm not worried about the hen laying hens.
Also, what is a pullet? I'm pretty sure is a hen that the hatchery will give you.

Next, once i get a hen, how do i introduce the hen to my other two chickens. My two chickens are a little over 1 year old.

"best" depends on what you are looking for.

Docile? Predator savvy? Good layers? Broody v not broody? Large, small, friendly, "pretty", unusual, etc...

I'm looking for a nice, friendly, hen that will be nice to my other chickens. I'm also looking for one that is friendly to people and talkative. I'm looking for one thats similiar to a black black australorp. Its not a big deal if i dont find a different type of hen, i will just get another black australorp.

I know silkies are very broody but they are not very hardy in cold temperatures. Cochins are too, they are just like silkies but tougher.then just simple orpington and sussex.

I am not at all fond of feathered feet. Too much opportunity to drag crud into the nest box. I'd suggest that you get an EE, a Dominique, a PBR, or a Buck Eye. However, I'd be concerned about a roo in a 2 hen flock. I'd opt for 3 hens and get rid of the roo.

White chantecler. Check the Breeders directory at the club website 'chantecler fanciers International" for breeders near you. this is a cold weather breed that has no feathers on its legs. was created in Canada .loves the snow will play outside in the snow at 30 below. no heating coops, very cold hardy .good meat birds ,good egg layers. Cox are gentle and Noble hands are gentle and friendly.
