Just out of curiousity, as I have had some clever chooks over the years to know what creativity everyone else has seen with their girls. Doesn't have to be chooks, can be ducks, turkeys, geese, doves and more.

Mine personally was the front seat of a single cabin ute/pick up. The chook kept jumping onto the front seat (car had no doors, was a bush work ute, or pick up truck for the American folk) and laying on the driver's seat. After kicking her out every day, she became far smarter and decided to hide BEHIND the driver's seat and start laying there. Thinking I had success, I didn't think much more of it. It wasn't until the car was used for some farm work, being out in the middle of a paddock far away from the house/coop did the hen show herself, by popping out from the back out of seat, making her way to the edge of the door and jumping out for a scratch. What lay behind the seat? 15 eggs....

So what stories have people got?

My mother's clothes pin bag while it was hanging on the clothes line is the most unusual site any of my birds have ever picked.

One time I found an egg in the bag of pine chip bedding.

Haha clever chooks! I can just imagine going to scoop some pine chips out to find a egg sitting on top. I'm surprised mine haven't thought of that with the opened soil/mulch bags I have lying around the garden....

And the clothes peg bag! Man mine is a basket hanging up high on a hills-hoist style clothes line but would be perfect for that venturing bantam wanting to hide her eggs. I would never think of looking, until I go to hang out the washing....

my chickens think they are reptiles. burying their eggs under ground... no lie it sucks digging through chicken poop for eggs
