What are the genetics of BAD barring?

Hi! I read that the basic gene for barring is Z-linked. One copy gets you barring like the female cuckoo pattern, and two gets you the more even white/black distribution of the male.

For the barred rock, I've hear there are modifiers to enhance barring. What are they?

Also, what are the genetics of BAD barring? How would a bird end up with barring on only a portion of his/her body?

I'd appreciate any info on this issue - it has me confused!
