4 is probably Langshan - ask Rodriguez to judge boy or girl at that point.

Yeah looks like mix meant - throw in every spare Roo ya got... and a pullet for good measure.

6. Light Brahma - cockerel, the coloring on the females is much whiter.

I'm gonna hold off on sexing the cochins. I had a white one that I thought was a cock for the longest time, and then it laid an egg.

It has a much larger and brighter red comb than the two pullets I have.

Which hatchery did you get them from?

We got them from Murray McMurray, the barnyard special or something like that. I won't do THAT again!
I think you're dead on, walkswithdog, about it meaning "throw in every spare roo you got." *Sigh*
We got way too many 'what are we going to do with THAT?' chickens. One buff polish roo? One golden campine roo? Brahmas, cochins, it's 120 degrees here!!! Roos up the ying-yang!!! Can I say that here?

Okay, I didn't believe you all on the Dominique rooster. Then today, he crowed!

Barred chickens like doms are easy to sex at that age by there plumage color. The males have 2 copies of barring gene which makes them lighter colored than the hens.

It's probably a good idea to stay away from the hatchery "specials".
I read where somebody ordered the "fryer special" (roos for meat) and got all leghorn roos. Leghorns are the skinniest large breed of chicken.
