Are the first two SLW, if so, why do they look so different? (there are two picture of each chick)

What is number 4?

These chicks came from Ideal Poultry

What did you order? That would help narrow it down for folks.

The first two are Silver Laced Wyandottes. Looks like both are males. The first one has a rose comb and the second has a single comb.

The next two birds look like variations of an Easter Egger. But I'd wait a bit to be sure as to what breed.

The last photo could be of a Blue Orpington, Blue Jersey Giant, Blue Australorp...

Like hinkjc said...any ideas on what you ordered?

pullet surprise special so I have no idea what breeds. It would be a little dissappointing to have two roos in that bunch considering it was a Pullet surprise and not straight run.

I ordered 11 chicks. the others were easier to identify but these have me stumped.

THe first two are not wyandottes. To be a wyandotte they must be rosecombed. Niether have a rose comb. The legs on the first one are to dark also.
Chick 4 could be an Egyptian fayoumi?

Quote:
they don't have to be rose combed and they are SLW. Even breeder quality Slws have single combs, and for the dark legs, they are hatchery quality, so they aren't perfect.

I agree that the first one is a silver laced wyandotte! I don't know the others. I see that the first two pictures are of the same bird. I don't think that the second chick is a SLW. I think the second one is different (number 2). The last pictures looks like it could be an EE though.

I read recently that white ears mean white eggs. Wyandottes lay brown eggs don't they? Can the first be a wyandotte with those earlobes? Novice, so this is mearly a question, not a criticism.

Thanks for posting these. I have some that look much like #3 and #4. So be sure to come back and post when they get bigger please.

i agree with rod, except i believe the penciled bird(s?) after the wyandottes is a Egyptian fayoumi, looks just like the ones i ordered years ago. That or some other silver penciled breed... Like a campine.
