I have two hens I inherited and was told in both case they are mutts. I am curious to know what kind of mutts.

The first hen is "Pepper":

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

The first hen looks like a Silver Laced Wyandotte cross and the second hen look like a Barred Rock cross.

I think the first one looks like she's part EE, and part Wyandotte, and the other could be part Barred Rock.....

They're cute!

I am thinking there might be some EE in the first hen due to the dark colored legs. The second hen might also have some EE in her. I got her from the neighbor and she has Barred Rocks, EE and Black Australop.

Fingers crossed that the EE trait might carry through.

Update.

Pepper - Is most definitely some sort of Silver-laced Michigan cross.

Poppy and Anise - The more they have developed, the more I see pictures of true Barred Rocks online, I think they may be Marans. There eggs are noticeably darker brown and I have read that is a key identifying trait amongst Marans. I will post pics of everyone soon.
