what are you doing for cold nights?

Humidity is supposed to be less than 70% right??

I keep the bedding stirred up, the coop clean and no drafts. It's been really cold here, -4 degrees, and I've Vaseline'd the combs and wattles and given the girls extra corn and protein. Also, on one really cold night I put a gallon sized water container filled with hot water and buried it in the shavings. It lasted a long time because, even though it was frozen in the morning, it was just a quarter of an inch or so.

I do think that I'll close up some of the ventilation. I have a lot; almost four square feet in a shortish coop.
