I am painting a family portrait for my step-mom. I am closer to her than my real mother, and even though we are only 9 years apart, she is my mom. She has been trying to get a family portrait for the past 6 years, and since my brother just got married, we finally got it for her. So I am going to paint it for her, and have it framed.

For my real mother and MIL, I will be giving cards and gift cards for a restaurant.

For me, I hope I get a home in Virginia for Mother's Day, as it is all I've been praying for.

So, what are you doing for your mother???

My Mom passed away almost 8 years ago. I will take a walk and say a prayer for her. My MIL is a very wonderful person and has filled that void I have had for so long. I will take her out for lunch and give her a card on friday. We have to be out of town on Sunday. I love your idea of painting the portrait. How lucky you are to have such talent.

My own mama pasted in 1974 when I was 18. I miss her all the time. The Good Lord saw fit to give me my step mama when I was 8 and her and my dad raised 7 children, she is 77 and I love her dearly. She had 4 children when my dad married her and with his 3 we became a blended family. Mama did not have to take in 3 little snotty nosed kids to raise but she did and for that I will always be grateful to her. we are going to see her in SC next weekend, will get her a gift card from Hobby Lobby and take her to lunch.

There will be 4 generations of us going to brunch. My grandmother, my mother, myself and my kids along with our spouses. Just a day to be together. Not sure on a gift yet, the kids are making things.

I am doing a photo shoot with my son and my best friend's son in coordinated outfits. My Memphis is 19 mo and her Son Townes is 5 mo. That's our present to eachother from our babies. I will also do some of each baby separate as gifts for my mom and her mom. I am gonna use our hayfield as the backdrop.

Mil lives two states away , so we're sending her flowers.

My mom lives across the country . I am sending some trinkets I bought at a gift shop at tulip farm/festival, and some handmade tulip cards . She likes tulips/daffodils like I do.

My Mom and MIL live in another state so I always just send flowers.

For me, my DH takes my 2 girls (ages 2 and 4) out into the woods and fields around our house and they collect flowers to make a giant mother's day bouquet for me! Every year they do this and I love it!

Not only do I get a hand picked bunch of flowers (though my flower gardens do take some damage), but I get an hour to myself when they are out to drink a cup of tea or take a much needed nap!

Everyone wins.

My mom passed away 7 years ago and my mother in law passed away last June. We will be taking flowers to the graves and I'm stopping in Kutztown Pa to pick up some hatching eggs. Thats my mothers day present to me.

Not too sure. My mother was just diagnosed with Colon Cancer after beating breast cancer 4 years ago. I want to do something special, but she is not the type to like to be pampered. What ever the boys and I decide to do for her will be special thought. My MIL lives next door. She is easy to buy for. Flowers for her deck and a nice sappy card.
