Hello, I'm new here and just joined this website.

So I ordered several breeds of chicks from Murray McMurray and I had asked for 2 Welsummer chicks, females. They looked like Welsummers as they matured until.......

To my surprise this morning, I saw Wella in the box and I waited to collect her egg right after she left the box. She laid a GREEN egg instead of the dark brown egg I was expecting.

A gave one of the chicks to a friend and hers lays a green egg too.

I thought she had a lean body like a light brown leghorn and her earlobes have white in them and her comb is huge.

What did Murray McMurray send me?

Not sure why you posted a picture of a white egg. Some hatcheries will substitute a breed if they’re sold out to fill your order. They will usually allow you to let them know if you are willing to accept a substitution or not.

The pic is of a light green egg not white. It may look pale in the pic.

I don't see any chickens that look like a Welsummer that lay green eggs on Mcmurray's website.

Thanks

I was thinking that too and I did order those but the coloring looks just like the Welsummer and my Whiting true greens have real white earlobes and mine looks like a red star

I looked at the Whiting true green description and it says it can vary. They must have sent me extra of those instead of the Welsummers. My two look so different that I thought it was a Welsummer but it must be another true green.

I had never had true greens before. They are great layers. They are 26 weeks now.

Thanks
