What breed and sex do I have?

Hi-
I have a grown hen whose breed I don't know. Can anybody help me? She lays beautiful brown eggs.

I also have a chick (the dark one--ignore the white hen) and I don't know its breed or, more importantly, its sex. It was born in late March so is around 6 weeks old. Any idea? Would additional pictures help?

The chick looks like a roo to me. I have *no* idea what kind of hen that is, except for very pretty.

I had that same hen. It's a Black sex link, or, in other words, a mix between a Rhode Island red male and a barred rock female. As for the chicks, beats me. It's always harder to tell what the breed is with chicks.

The hen looks like a Black Star, it's a cross breed, very good layers. The chick could be several different things, possibly a Black Australorp, they have a green sheen to their feathers. Black Giant maybe, or another Black Star.
