We aren't sure if it's a Barred Rock or a Silver Laced Wyandotte. Although we think it may be a rooster as it does have small "bump" like spots on its inner leg above the feet, where the spurs would be. Also why is it so patchy? Even under its wings there is little to no full feathers. The Buff Orpington have all their feathers and are hens for sure. They are also smaller then "Mr Ugly" but were purchased at the same time.

Cockerels feather slower than pullets, and yours is a cockerel.

It looks to be either a light sussex or columbian rock. Or even mixed.

Definitely not a barred rock or wyandotte.

Thanks for the reply, I think you may be right about him being a Columbian Rock. Also good to know he isn't sickly from lack of feathering.

This bird is definitely a cockerel. As for breed, I think that it is a mix. I would say that he is a Delaware mix, as Columbian Rocks have more of a black striping in the neck feathers, whereas he has barring.

Cockerel. I'm not expert when it comes to breeds, but looks like it might have SOME light sussex, but probably a mixbreed.

The Light Sussex and Delawares have similar color patterns, but I think the yellow legs are a stronger indicator for a Delaware mix as Sussex have whitish/pinkish legs.

mixed breed cockerel. Never mind any spur buds on the legs, that comb screams male at this age.
