They are an assortment of brown egg layers from McMurrays. 5 weeks old.

Here are some closer pictures. I am now guessing, black star, red star and the the other 3 are still a mystery to me.

My guesses....

The red ones look to be Red Stars...and will be great layers.

The black one with the bit of white looks like an Australorp. It doesn't look like a Black Star as Black Star females are all black and then gain red or gold bleed through as they mature and the boys bar out like a Barred Rock (Red roo over a black hen producing all black female chicks with red bleed through as they grow; or black male chicks with a white dot on the head which grow into barred roos.)

It is hard to see the brown one up close enough to tell. Was it chipmunk color as a chick with eyeliner? I'm guessing a Speckled Sussex as I don't see Welsummer on McMurray's website. It's hard to tell without looking closer.

The white birds with black markings have no leg feathers so they may be either Delawares or Columbian Wynadottes (both of which are offered in the brown layer birds from McMurrays). I'm thinking Columbian as they have too much black for standard Delawares.

The black bodied one with yellow head and eyeliner...I've no idea...interested in hearing on that one.

Anyway my guesses.

Thanks! That is very helpful. Yes, the brown one did look like a chipmunk as a chick. She is tough to photograph or record because she is so shy. Next time I handle her, I will take better close ups. Thanks again!
