Hi all! Just got back a couple hours ago from TSC with—yep!—four baby chicks. I have two ameruacanas and two assorted Bantams. I was wondering if anybody could tell me the breed of the Bantams and the color variety of the Ameruacanas. Also, if anybody could confirm the gender, that’d be great! The ameruacanas were sexed pullets but I wanted to double check. I *think* I picked two Bantams girls.
Thanks all!

I *think* this could be a Sumatra but I’m not sure what TSC carries.

I think this is a brown red ameruacana.

I thought this could be a Dutch bantam.

I had no clue about this ameruacana’s color variety.
Thanks all!

If they’re from TSC they are most likely Easter Eggers. My TSC advertises them as Ameraucanas but they’re not

They all look like females to me using the feather sexing method, if in fact they carry that gene.

I got some Easter Eggers recently too. They are too cute and little chipmunks!!

Thank you! They certainly act like little chipmunks or hamsters!
From my understanding, ameruacanas and Easter Eggers are the same thing but—I could be wrong.
Any clue what the Bantams are?
Also, thanks for confirming they are girls! :)

Easter Eggers are a mutt so to speak and can lay an array of colors from blue to lime green to even pink. But purebred Ameraucanas only lay blue eggs. When your Easter Eggers grow up they may all look like different birds not related one to the other. I learned this recently since I found out purebred Ameraucanas are pricey while Easter Eggers cost the same as any other chick.

I have no experience with Bantams unfortunately so I’m no help there. Hopefully someone is able to pop in and help you out in that area.

I have a 50/50 Barred Rock Ameruacana who lays blue eggs, and I suppose she is considered an EE. Thanks for telling me this information! I don’t recall my Ameruacanas being more or less expensive than the Bantams, so I think you’re right about them not being purebred.
Thanks!

Here’s what I think:
The first one is a Silver Sebright.
The second and fourth ones are most likely Easter Eggers.
The third one is not a Dutch Bantam; it is an Old English Game Bantam and most likely Silver Duckwing colored.
They’re lovely chicks!

I LOVE OEGBs and I’m super excited about the silver sebright. Thank you for telling me the specific color variety too!
Thanks you so much!
