There is an ad on craigslist where I live and the persons ad states the hens are Ameraucana's. They look nothing like an Ameraucana, plus the person states that they lay brown eggs. Now, I know 'TRUE' Ameraucana's don't lay brown eggs. I would post pics from the craigslist ad but am having trouble. So, here is the link to the ad. On top of that this person wants $15/bird. Looking at the pictures she has I think she would be lucky to get $5-$10, they look to be in pretty poor condition. So, what are these birds actually? I would say a mutt of somesort.

The hens look like Black Sex-Link. The roos could be Leghorn crosses, one looks like he might be a Red Sex-Link. Almost definitely no Ameraucana in there, but it's hard to tell from such poor quality pics.

Not sure what they are, but I would think they would take much less to clean out roosters. Hens of young age and decent appearance and good health are worth $15 in my opinion. I'd say, go look em over and discuss the details in person. It doesn't appear they pictured any of the EEs, unless they're included in that dark pic.

Remember, practice good biosecurity to protect your flock. Cover your shoes with plastic bags or spray them with bleach before returning to your birds. Also, change clothes when you get home..and keep any new birds quarantined for at least 30 days. Ask lots of questions about flock history, health and vaccines. Good luck.

Hi Jody-

I don't plan on getting any of these birds. This person has been advertising these birds on craigslist for quite a while. Obviously she hasn't gotten any takers. I now see why looking at the condition of these birds. This person seems to be a collector. I don't know how this person expects to get $15/bird w/ the way those birds look. Thanks for the clarification on the breeds.

I'm a little shocked that they would post pictures of the birds standing in whatever that slop is that the bottom two pictures. I'd be a little ashamed to show that I kept my animals like that.
