This little girl came from the pullet bin at Atwood's. If I understand correctly, that means she is from Ideal Poultry, is that right? I keep looking all through their breeds trying to figure her out, but am still stumped...could she be some sort of brown leghorn? In these pics she is about 10 weeks old. She looks more brown than red to me when not in sunlight or under direct light, but definitely has a reddish tint.

Some of her underfeathers are this color:

Thanks for any help.

Red sex link or a variety of red sex link. It looks like a brown egg layer to me which would rule out the leghorns. RIR or NH is another possiblity.

See, I kind of wondered about RIR, but when we got her she was just barely reddish at all. Not dark red like Ideal shows their chicks to be. So maybe that narrows it down to NHR or the red sex-link?

We had some RIR's (Production Reds) that had chicks (brooded by another hen) and they were predominantly cream/yellow and got darker speckles on their wings after a few weeks. Those girls are shown now at 9 months old on my page, Rosey and BeepBeep. Goes to show that you can't judge their final color by their baby feathers

They are definitely a very bright yellow, but to my inexperienced eye, not any larger proportionately than our other types of chickens.

I just looked at a post down below mine by TomTurkey, and my girl sure does look like his RIRs. I'm really confused now, because we have another chicken a few weeks older that I thought was a RIR, but if this girl is one, then that chicken must be something else! I'll have to get pics of her to post.

Thanks for all the help for what must have seemed like a dumb question!

This is my hatchery RIR. Yours has me confused because of the white face. Is her face really white or is it just the camera?
