These girls came from a Cackle Hatchery Surprise in June of this year. I have 2 that look like Barred Rocks, but I am not sure. I also have 1 of 4 light hens that look like Buff Orpingtons and again not sure. If anyone has insight to what breeds they are, I would be greatly appreciated. Thank you !!!

Hen #1 In Center ( This hen is more darker with light brown in the bar feathering.)

Hen #2 ( This hen has just white in the bar feathering. )

Hen #3 ( I currently have 3 more just like this hen. )

Again Thanks !!

Agree that with the single combs and white/pink legs they're probably Buff Orpingtons. The barred ones have a single combs and yellow/black feet so agree with the maybe Barred Plymouth Rock, other common one would be the Cuckoo Marans, but they should have white/black feet. Hatchery birds sometimes aren't exactly right with feather or skin color, if one is a Marans, it should lay darker eggs than the Rocks.

Thank you guys. I had a feeling they was barred rocks and buff orps. Just wasn't exactly sure. :) If I get a dark chocolate egg, I will be a happy camper.

I don't think either Barred Rock or Buff Orp lay dark chocolate eggs.

I was referring to what was mentioned in a earlier post. I know BRs and BOs won't lay dark colored eggs. :)
