What breed do you think has the best hatch rate

I don't think anyone can answer that question for you...
{EDT: Though some breeders do fertility studies of specific strains against each other}

Assuming you're talking about chickens:
Obviously fluff-butts like English Orps, show Australorps and Cochins are not going to have the best fertility rate, and there are some types that are difficult to hatch, like rumpless--a lot of the chicks die in the shell because it's a homozygous lethal gene.

My best hatch rates have been with Old English Game bantams, (broodies) but I've never done a study.

The most important factors are breeder nutrition, nicely-shelled hatching eggs, cleanliness in the incubator or the nest, and a steady incubator. Those will all have far more effect than breed.

I have speckled Sussex fertile eggs or at least they should be. I have a speckled roo that is definitely doing his job. Anyone have luck hatching this breed? My daughter and I are going to try once out new incubator arrives!
