I have some new birds laying. For the past few days I've been getting dark brown eggs.
See the egg on the bottom?
What bird could be laying these??
Girls starting to lay are 3 Columbian Plymouth Rocks, 1 golden comet, and 2 White Rocks. I also have 4 other girls starting to lay--2 of them look like black stars. As chicks they were black with a little red around their faces.
The other two I *think* are also sex links. Of the other two, one has only a tiny bit of red in her chest feathers and the other one is solid black with even part of her comb being black. As chicks they were black with a few white spots. Now that they are feathered out, their body shapes look exactly like my black stars do. They're all the same size and everything.
All of the chicks came from Mt. Healthy Hatchery. I got them at TSC.
I also have a Barred Rock who should be laying any day now, also 2 brown leghorns, plus 3 Polish and 2 spitzhauben, and 1 blue Andalusian. I know all the crested ones and the Andalusian lay white, but I thought I'd mention them just in case. I haven't see any of those birds in the nest, but they're all the same age as the sex links and starting to do the hen squat for me!
